Case Study Spotlight: Cisco Secure Ops

High security that required high availability

Cisco’s Secure Ops is a managed cybersecurity solution for Operational Technology networks. Before implementing SvSAN, their original architecture ran in their datacenter and was dependent on non-HA local storage – intended to minimize downtime and provide a good level of performance for their clients.

When they revised the architecture to include a clientside compute infrastructure to provide additional security protection paired with a datacenter component to collect and analyze data, they required an innovative and modern approach to servers and storage.

The new solution needed to be cost-effective, while still providing high availability to ensure downtime was avoided wherever possible. Space was also at a premium, and needed to be conserved wherever possible.

SvSAN: saving money and space

By choosing SvSAN, Cisco Secure Ops saved money by cutting out the need for an expensive (and physically large) SAN. In addition to saving money, SvSAN’s synchronous mirroring provided high availability at each location – minimizing harmful downtime.

All things considered, SvSAN met all of Cisco Secure Ops’ requirements: low cost, high performance and high availability.
